Samadhi is a Hindu and Buddhist term used to refer to higher levels of consciousness. Samadhi also refers to the death of the physical body as well as the mausoleum of a saint or spiritual leader.
We use Samadhi here in all it's various meanings as they are essentially all the same. This is a place where we honor and remember those of our tribe who have experienced Samadhi.

Hello Again, Friends and Family.
Frances Marion Beban died this morning at around 9:10am. During her last minutes of life, Ernie and I were sitting on either side of her, each holding one of her hands, and gently letting her know how much she was and is loved.
It is inconceivable to me that there can be a world without Fran in it.
I guess we will all have to find out what that is like. I have lost not
just my mother but one of the dearest friends I have ever had -- she
was also the only friend I've had and stayed close with for my whole
life. My life is completely different today than it was yesterday.
Words can't even begin to express how much I will miss her.

Whenever I saw Fran, I always thought of my first Heart conference
experience. Fran always bought me back to my own beginners mind.
For Fran
May we find gratitude,
for where life has brought us.
May we find compassion,
for how we got here.
May we experience ourselves,
And all that is around us, with
Open Eyes, Open Hands and an Open Heart.
May we hold that which we have
firmly enough that we may know it.
But not so firmly that we cannot let it go.
That we may know that life is transitory and fleeting.
And the experience of it is real.
And that we cherish these experiences for what they are.

To me Fran never held a mom but rather Auntie Mame ( Rosalind Russel
as opposed to Lucille Ball ) VIVACIOUS EARTHY FORTHRIGHT AND ABOVE ALL
IN LOVE WITH LIVING.
I recently came across this poem by Lord Alfred Tennyson and it
seems to bring some sense to her passing for me and hope it may with
you also
CROSSING THE BAR
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea.
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home!
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For though from out our born of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.

On this picture Fran is exiting a lava tunnel in Hawaii with me. This is September 18th, 2003 at 5:29 PM.
Fran and I decided to perform a ritual together. We were in Hawaii
during the 1st year of the Mystery School. We decided to go all the
way to the end of a half-mile long dark lava tunnel! Jodi Gold had
suggested doing that… It seemed like a Jodi thing to me. That was
beyond crazy, dangerous and well beyond the scariest thing I would have
imagined. The tunnel was closed to public, dark, totally silent,
abandoned but we went ahead anyhow by pushing the gate open. It had
warning signs all over.

The attached photo is of my mom and dad as a young couple with no kids, courtesy of my uncle.
My
dad looks so proud to be with her, and the squint in her eyes (even
though it's probably just because of the sun) makes it look like she's
thinking "Do ya feel lucky, punk? Well, do ya punk?"
Typical Fran.

The word that keeps coming up when I think of Fran at that last
gathering with her is 'generosity'. Before getting these updates on
Fran, I had a collective dream I was going to share.
Then when I heard
about Fran I was afraid it was not the right time. Then I remembered
Fran towards the end of the gathering when all of you who had known her
so well for so long gathered around her to talk to her. I held back
because I felt our personal connection was so much less.
So, Fran came
over to me! Her generosity and love so honest and unconditional, it
has been all I can focus on today. I will share the dream because of
Fran and it feels relevant.

After the last gathering i read Bruce's prayer/email and though loved
the words, thought "Whoa, she's not dead yet! Not yet Not yet!". Yet
she was far closer than I would admit.
I had told her and Ernie I would be up the following weekend to visit
and then just let life get in the way, thinking she'll live, she's
tough, she's Fran. She is larger than life...
And she is... but I guess all life must end in time...
There is something about the fragility of Life I refuse to see. I have
known this woman to move mountains with her own sheer will and pure
energy and yet I refuse to acknowledge and see how fragile and delicate
she is in her last of days.

I want to share this picture with all of you. It's such a beautiful
picture of the two of them. I especially love the way Fran is touching
Ernie but their smiles say it all. They loved each other so much it
was always a joy to be with them.
I imagine Fran is already doing production in her
strangely soft 8 way. Wherever she is, it's a better place for her
presence. That was certainly always the case here.
I will miss my buddy immensely.
With much love, gail

Living up to her reflection |

With Fran's passing, I was going through my images of her and reflecting on all the ways I knew her.
I
met Fran Beban when we did Stand and Deliver together. I sat across
from her in the circle on the first night. She came up to me afterward
and said "Isn't interesting how the most powerful people in the circle
always sit across from each other?". I am still working to live up to
that reflection.
I met Catherine Crowell at my Basic Workshop. She was my
facilitator. She enrolled me into the Stand and Deliver where I met
Fran.
Attached is a picture of them both at our 25th anniversary
party. Given all that has now transpired, I find this image to be quite
incredible.
With love,
John Palmer
