Fran and I decided to perform a ritual together. We were in Hawaii during the 1st year of the Mystery School.  We decided to go all the way to the end of a half-mile long dark lava tunnel! Jodi Gold had suggested doing that… It seemed like a Jodi thing to me. That was beyond crazy, dangerous and well beyond the scariest thing I would have imagined.  The tunnel was closed to public, dark, totally silent, abandoned but we went ahead anyhow by pushing the gate open. It had warning signs all over.
We had nothing but one candle each. Fran did not worry, hesitate or doubt once. That woman did not know fear. We felt compelled to go together, we both had prayers to express and this seemed like the perfect place. Strangely. A few times, the rocks we had to climb were too big for Fran. I had to push her big butt to help her go down.  Our hands touched and I felt more and more connected as we went along. In a couple of places, the top of the tunnel had collapsed and I realize that I could simply die, just like that, under tons and tons of rock.

At the end of the tunnel, all we could hear were drops of water falling to the ground, nothing else. We sat and meditated quietly. Then, we shared our prayers. Her prayer was about how bountiful her life was and I remember a few words about asking for good health.  My insight at that very moment was  to entirely change my life, leave the US after 22 years, restart from scratch and do what I do now. She was my witness, the priestess, at one of the most significant moments of my life.
